Drawn to the quiet balance of the Asian culture and inspired by beautiful colored stones gathered on trips around the world, Shirley creates her unique pieces "to reflect a woman's innate individuality, beauty and mystery." Shirley's collections sell in galleries and museum shops across the United States and Canada. She has won numerous awards for her art. Describe Your Work: Asian inspired, hand-crafted pendants, necklaces, earrings and bracelets, using fine & sterling silver with semi precious stones. How did you get started in the crafts business? In 1972 I took classes in silver fabrication at a local fine art's school. I started selling retail after my classes. How long have you been wholesaling? I changed over to wholesaling in 2006 having been introduced to WSC, now IndieMe What are your top 3 marketing methods for reaching new buyers? Ads in magazines; featured ads on IndieMe and blanket emails to galleries, shops, etc. What percentage of your business is Wholesale? Retail? Commission, etc.? 97% wholesale; 2% retail; 1% commission How has IndieMe helped your business? IndieMe has made my business! What advice do you have for new craft artists? First, find your niche that is different from anyone else. Second, find a venue to sell your art that suits your style such as IndieMe What advice do you have for new craft galleries? Attend shows, use online venues to find artists and their work that you think will sell in your gallery.
