Felicity Jewelry Designs

Deanne has been selling her handcrafted jewelry online, in brick and mortar shops and museum gift shops for over 12 years. Her work has evolved from beading with artisan glass, crystals and precious metals to creating original Pendants, Components and Charms with Precious Metal Silver Clays and Bronze Clays. She is thrilled to be working, on a wholesale basis, with a variety of business owners, many of whom are artisans themselves! She feels privileged to follow her passion and work with such wonderful people and businesses.

Describe Your Work

A great deal of my Jewelry incorporates my original Fine Silver and /or Bronze pieces. These components are individually made through a multi-staged process, giving each Jewelry piece a feeling of uniqueness. Of late, I have been incorporating concepts of mindfulness, peace and meaningfulness into this work. My components are complemented with Sterling Silver, 14 KT. Gold Filled and Oxidized Brass Metals, as well as Natural Stone, Glass Beads and Crystals. Mixing metals continues to be one of my favorite ways to bring a sense of individuality, originality and versatility to my work. My mission is to give my jewelry wearers confidence, a sense of beauty and a "put together" feeling to complete any outfit!

How did you get started in the crafts business?

I have always created, finding peace and satisfaction when bringing new and creative ideas into existence. I had explored many arts and crafts forms before landing on Jewelry Design about 15 years ago. Discovering Jewelry Design was momentous for me and my passion for it was instant. Since then, I have had the privilege of methodically building a jewelry design business, which continues to be my full time endeavor.

How long have you been wholesaling?

I have been wholesaling on a significant basis for approximately 3 years.

What percentage of your business is Wholesale? Retail? Commission, etc.?

Wholesale - 80% Retail - 20%

What are your top 3 marketing methods for reaching new buyers?

Importantly I attempt to consistently add new pieces and/or variations to lines and collections. This helps keep current customers interested, and helps attract new ones by placing me on the "New Work" pages. . Secondly, I consistently work online by: posting new creations on IndieMe, blogging, maintaining and integrating social media platforms and managing my websites (personal and Etsy). Finally, I reach out to stores and boutiques, via emails and phone calls.

How has IndieMe helped your business?

Since joining IndieMe in October, 2017, I have been able to establish business relationships with several new buyers, and I look forward to continuing this! I currently use the "Featured Artist" platform to advertise, and plan to try the " "Premier Ads" this Fall. The Digital Marketing is also wonderful!

What advice do you have for new craft galleries?

Artisans and Galleries often have the same motivation. That is, to bring creative works to the public for education and appreciation. Artisans have incredible enthusiasm when it comes to their own work, and as a general rule, love to talk about their creations, possible line expansions and the creation of pieces that may work for you and your gallery. Don't hesitate to contact artisans with suggestions and questions. As an artisan, I truly value the opinions and creative ideas of my buyers, and I love when they share those with me. On several occasions, this interaction has led to new pieces and jewelry lines. In the words of Albert Einstien, "Creativity is contagious, pass it on".

What advice do you have for new craft artists?

"Art is never finished, only abandoned" - Leonardo da Vinci. There are moments of great happiness and moments of great insecurity when selling your creations. I feel it's necessary to keep working at your craft, and never feel that you are finished learning and developing. In addition, it's important to work on a social media presence, website skills and photography. There's so much to learn, everyday, when running a handmade wholesale business!
